Planet Sport World Tour…Sort of!
Posted on 1 June, 2012 by Ellie Brecunier
As you have probably been hearing about, OneSheep is thrilled to be working with Planet Sport, a ministry initiative of 2K Plus International Sports Media.
From now until the end of the 2012 summer Olympics in London, we will be assisting them with their digital media needs, from their website and social media to their content and fan engagement. Do I hear a wohoo!?? Olympics, media, London…come on! Let’s just say we’re very excited about this project, and amped about working with such a great team to get it done.
Here’s where I fall into everything: social media, interns, content, fan engagement. Boil it all down to relationship.
Relationship through Social Media: The goal of any social media is to bridge the gap between audiences and content providers or brands and to clearly share a message or interest. I’ve taken the reins of Planet Sport’s Facebook and Twitter accounts to begin to build this bridge, laying down the foundation for a vibrant sports community with Christ as it’s center.
Relationship through Internships: 7 digital media, digital savvy, digital native young adults. 7 passionate, innovative, driven, creative students. 7 interns coming to London to offer their skills in video, social media, and presenting for Planet Sport. It’s been great recruiting these guys, and we’re so excited to have them join us 16 July in England for 4 weeks of Olympic coverage and ministry.
Relationship through Content: Providing an experience that is exciting, fresh, and relevant makes relationship through content possible. Our job is to capture the stories, the atmosphere, and the character of the Games here in London and project them out to the world in ways that people can appreciate and relate to themselves. Jesus did this through parables. Same model applies today.
Relationship through Fan Engagement: Okay, you’ve got fans. So? That means very little unless they are actively bought into what you are doing. Is your content being viewed, are discussions happenings, do people feel part of the community? If yours is a ministry site, then ministry needs to be occurring. And we all know that ministry happens from authentic encounters. Make that sort of engagement your number one and see the results!
There it is. A few simple concepts that tell the tale of what I’m doing this summer with Planet Sport.
Oh and you may be asking where the World Tour plays into all of this? Well, the Planet Sport show is hitting the open road…online that is. We’re amping up our social networks, with fans from across the globe, and are happy to announce that a sparkly new Planet Sport website is just around the corner. We may not be touring the world, but that’s not stopping a vibrant global community from coming together!
Please kick back, follow along, ask questions, make recommendations, and enjoy this journey with us.
